March Glossybox 2013!!! - Review

THE MARCH GLOSSY BOX ARRIVED THIS MORNING!!!

I've read a lot of reviews on the glossy box's and decided that at only £12.95 a month I'd give it a go. I recieved the February edition last month however I forgot to do a review on the products and only remembered a couple of days ago.

This month's box focuses on City Chic and includes what they feel are 'hard-working, multi-tasking, heavy-duty products'.

When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was the 'My little travelling book'. Inside is a little guide to different countries such as China, Austria and best of all the USA. Next month I'm going on placement to Las Vegas for a month and so I thought this was brilliant. It even has little stickers inside and labels for your suitcase!

The first product I noticed was the Tresemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray (100ml). I'm currently using the VO5 Extra Hold High Volume Spray, however when I was in Boots looking at the different sprays it was a toss-up between these two. I like the fact that the Tresemme one doesn't leave your hair feeling straw like and seems to last a long time! I sprayed my hair with it this morning the went into town and although it was raining ever so slightly the hairspray held my hair in place. I cannot wait to try this product for a night out!

The next product is the Elizabeth Arden Fragrance Free Eight Hour Cream. I've never used any Elizabeth Arden products before due to the price of most of the skin care. It'll be nice to try this high end cream out (£25) and see what difference there is between this and my £2 Clean and Clear cream.

The Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush in pink is another new product to me. I've never really been a fan of pink lip stains as it tends to leave me looking washed out or just generally doesn't suit me. However, this pink - although looks bright - leaves a subtle pinky colour and is SO moisturising! My lips feel really smooth and again has lasted the best part of 5 hours without needing to be topped up. I will definately be putting this in my frequntly used make up bag!

You can never have to many handcreams, right? Well the L'Occitane Brightening Hand Cream is definately a good product to invest in at £19 for 75ml. I applied it once this morning and my hands feel really smooth and moisturised. It also has SPF 20 making it perfect for taking away on holiday with you or just applying on a sunny day (if we ever get another one of those in England). The only negative thing I can say about this product is it is quite a hefty price tag for a handcream and I'm not sure I'd choose to pay that much when products such as the Nivea Daily Hand Cream are so much cheaper and still do a top job.

The final product in the Glossy Box was a Nails Inc Nail Varnish in Bruton Street. I LOVE pink nail varnishes and this colour is such a beautiful dark pink. I've always found Nails Inc products to be well worth the £11 price tag as they don't chip easily and they have a huge variety of colours. This product will definately be getting used up within the next week or so.

So thats my review of this months Glossybox! Did you guys get one? If so, what did you think of your products. Also, I'd love to hear what you think of my blog so far and how I can improve it!

Skin Wisdom...

Like most girls of my age I am constantly trying to find a skin care routine that keeps my spots at bay. I've never really had bad acne but due to being pale skinned whenever I do have a break out my skin has red blotches for weeks after the spots has gone.

Whilst looking for my usual face wash in Tesco I saw an offer on the brand Skin Wisdom. I'd previously read some great reviews on their products and so thought I'd give it a shot.

I bought the Skin Wisdom Skin Essentials Cleansing Milk (200ml) and the Skin Wisdom Skin Essentials Refreshing Toner (200ml). They are both £2.50 each.

You massage the cleansing milk into your face and neck using small circular movements. Remove excess cleanser with cotton wool, followed by using Skin Essentials Refreshing Toner. It says that you do not need to remove make up before hand but I found that using the cleanser on its own does not remove it all and so I used a face wipe before hand. The cleansing milk is SO soothing and made my face feel so clean and refresh! It will last a long time as well, but even if it didn't at £2.50 each its not exactly leaving a hole on your purse!

The refreshing toner is used after the cleanser to remove any left over impurities and by looking at the cotton wool pad after use it definitely does its job. The only problem was that it seemed a bit to strong and my skin stung a little after use and felt tight. However, this only lasted a few seconds and is probably due to me having sensitive skin.

After a week of use I can safely say that my skin looks and feels a lot clearer.  For the price and quality of this product I give it a 10/10 and will definitely keep it as my daily routine for the foreseeable future.

What are your daily skin care routines?

Busy But Beautiful Gift Set Review

I got this gift set for Christmas from my Aunt and up until last week I hadn't used it! However, due to the cold and snow I felt I needed to start moisturising on a daily basis as my skin was suffering from the horrible weather. I'd also like to apologise for the awful quality of the pictures! My camera has broken and so I'm having to use my iPhone until I get it fixed.

The box and tubes it comes in are girly and elegant, with pin up girls on the front. I find myself wanting to keep the set in the box and putting it somewhere I can regularly see it as I think its so pretty.

These 5 moisturisers are the perfect size (50ml) to put in your handbag or take on your travels. They are from M&S and were around £6 or £7.

The body lotion is a super light moisturiser which left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. It didn't take long to soak into the skin and so thankfully I wasn't stood in the bathroom, semi naked, for too long in the cold. The only down side is that because it is so small I've nearly used it all up in one go but for a travel sized product I guess that's expected!

I have yet to use the bath cream as I'm living in halls at the moment and so don't have a bath! But from how amazing all the other products are I am going to assume this is of good quality too.

The body polish is used to buff up your body by gently exfoliating away any dead skin. It smells absolutely gorgeous as it is blended with coconut shell granules (exfoliating).

Although I wasn't blown away by the shower cream it did its job well and smelled lovely. Again, because of its small size it will probably be empty by the end of the next use.

The hand lotion that came within the set is by far the best product. It is a very light hand lotion that does not take long to set in and left my skin feeling nourished and silky smooth. Again like all the other products in the set the fragrance is beautiful and not over powering.

All in all I give this gift set a 8/10. Its good quality for the price, fits easily into your bag and I do recommend buying.

Again, apologies for the poor quality pictures, hopefully my camera will be fixed soon! I would also love your opinion on my blog so far (I know there's not alot to go off yet)! Where am I going wrong? What could I improve on? And what would you like to see more of.

Question & Answer 5 Year Journal

I bought this journal after reading about it on another blog. I thought it was a brilliant way to record whats happening in your life over a 5 year period. I am RUBBISH at keeping a diary, I attempt to start a new one every year as a new years resolutions but by January the 5th I forget about it or just can't be bothered. This journal, however, asks you specific questions each day and you answer the question in a couple of sentences. Each year you start again underneath the previous entry and write a new one for the new year. Its a brilliant way to see how specific aspects of your life have changed over the duration of the journal. I showed my flat mates at uni and they've all bought ones to! I highly recommend it and I genuinely do think I will stick to writing in it everyday as it only takes a few minutes.

The Journal is £10.28 at the moment from Amazon

There is a removable sticker on the back with instructions of how to use!

Today's question 'What's the oldest thing you wearing today?'

The outside of the pages are gold which I thought looked pretty cool.

It's also quite a handy size (about A5) and can easily be carried in your bag.

Thanks for reading! =) and sorry the pictures are of such bad quality!

10 Jackets/Coats I Want

What to expect from this blog...

Now that my exams are over I can start blogging more often and put more thought into what I want this blog to develop into.

Todays I've been sorting out all my make up as my make up bags are overflowing. I'm very conscious of the fact I just stick to the same old make up every day and so I'm going to try out new looks in the weeks to come and see how it turns out.

Same Old Plan ...New Year New Start

So although it's 4 days after the new year, I've decided to wait till now to start the new me (I had lots of assignments in this week that I left to late)

So to start of with, these are my New Years Resolutions;

1) Get fitter
2) Eat healthier
3) Work harder
4) Be more organised
5) Strive to achieve new things
6) Take new risks!

They are the usual general resolutions most girls put down and succeed to fail. Hopefully this year will be different! Last year I did really well, I'd got to febuary and had lost a stone and was a size 8 which I was over the moon about but then I got stressed with the amount of uni work to be done and put it all back on with a chocolate binge or 2 (or 12).

However, this year I've taken the time to read through different articles on how to stick to my goals and I'm determined to succeed! I've even put all my christmas chocolate in a cardboard box and put it in the garage for a while to try and stop tempation.

With regards to eating healthy and doing exercise, I've eaten quite healthy for the past couple of days and have bought in a lot of healthy snacky foods to stop me snacking on unhealthy things. I also went on the treadmill last night however after 5 minues I had what I think is an ashma attack so I had to stop. I'm going to the doctors tomorrow as I think I most likely have exercise induced ashma and so need an inhaler!

I've already started with the work harder and be more organised goals by putting all my uni work in folders and knucking down with my assignments so it shouldn't be too hard to keep to a routine with that! Number 5 and 6 on my goals list will take time to kick in as I don't have a lot of time in the next couple of weeks to sort anything new out. I did, however, start these two goals a while back and I've managed to get a place on my universities charity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in July which will be amazing! I also got a place on my universities over seas placement and will be going to Las Vegas in April for a month to teach at a school! SO EXCITED! So I guess, techniquely I've started those two.

I'll blog again tomorrow as I'm off to the hairdressers to get a whole new hair style now!

Wish me luck

Pippa xx
